Network Development Manager

Position Description

ARCADIA is a professional organization from Romania which aims to create a community of scholars, practitioners, policy-makers and experts in the areas of development and international cooperation. Structurally the organization should function as a network of networks enabling those who work on the relations between Romania and various parts of the world/countries or on thematic issues related to development and international cooperation to form working groups and engage in joint projects and activities.

The role of the Network Development Manager is twofold: to ensure the proper functioning of existing working groups and to facilitate the development of new working groups. The Network Development Manager has a strategic role in the organization and requires managerial and networking skills from a person at ease (or motivated by a job) with project management and social media networking tools.

Tasks:
- Produce a working group-development strategy for ARCADIA – design and support the implementation of working groups in ARCADIA on:

1. Romania’s relations with various areas of the world/countries (for example an existing working group within ARCADIA is focused on Romania-Africa relations, one of the future working groups could focus on the Romania-Black Sea region);
2. Development and international cooperation related issues (e.g.: foreign policy, trade and development, gender equality, economic development, etc)).

- Identify working group coordinators together with ARCADIA’s board;
- Identify experts, scholars, students, practitioners, and policymakers who focus on the areas corresponding to ARCADIA existent or projected working groups and invite them to join ARCADIA;
- Assist the working group coordinators in their work, have regular meetings and discuss the development of the respective working group;
- Facilitate the development of new ARCADIA working groups;
- Monitor the activity of ARCADIA working groups;
- Report to the Board on the activity of working groups.

This position would require around 4 hours of your time per week.

All positions within ARCADIA, down to its executive board, are unpaid and volunteer-based. The experience you gain developing and maintaining relationships with key civic, professional, and government organizations and experts can be an excellent way to gain NGO experience and professional skills.

Moreover, there are no geographic requirements for joining this team/project. We are committed to being an international organization committed, and our teams span several continents. We carry out much of our communication over email and Skype.
